Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has confirmed his starting lineup for the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2027 qualifier against Guinea-Bissau, making three changes to the team that began the campaign.
The fixture in Bissau already carries significant importance in Group L. Nigeria opened their qualifying campaign with a victory over Madagascar in Uyo, while Guinea-Bissau produced an impressive away win against co-hosts Tanzania.
With both teams level near the top of the group, the meeting at the September 24 Stadium gives either side an early opportunity to strengthen its position in the race for qualification.
Chelle has opted to adjust his team rather than simply stick with the side that won the opening match. The three changes suggest the Nigeria coach is already looking to adapt his approach depending on the opposition and the demands of playing away from home.
The Super Eagles will be aiming to build on their positive start and establish some early momentum in the campaign, while Guinea-Bissau will be looking to take advantage of home support after their encouraging result in Tanzania.
Kick-off is scheduled for 5 PM Nigerian time at the September 24 Stadium in Bissau. Victory would leave Nigeria in a strong position in Group L and provide another important step in Chelle’s efforts to shape the team ahead of AFCON 2027.
